Tyler Hontz
Public Health Fellow
Tyler is focused on better understanding the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patient experience through data and research. In his fellowship, he plans to work with the HCMA’s data to identify gaps in care, explore disparities, and collaborate with fellow interns to think through practical solutions to ongoing public health challenges within the HCM community. His interest in health equity began in college, where he intentionally sought out opportunities to study and address disparities in care through research, presentations, conferences, and applied coursework. He is especially interested in the way data can be used to highlight inequities and drive more effective, patient-centered solutions. Tyler brings a detail-oriented and thoughtful approach to his work, alongside strong skills of data analysis, needs assessment, and program development and evaluation. He currently studies Health Policy & Administration at Penn State University and lives in Northern New Jersey with his long-term girlfriend. Outside of his work, he enjoys gardening and spending time with his cat, Freddie.
