Cardiac Biopsy

In a myocardial biopsy, doctors remove a small piece of heart tissue and examine it. It is usually done after transplants to see how your body reacts to your new heart.
A myocardial biopsy is a procedure in which a small piece of the heart muscle is removed for laboratory examination. Biopsies are routinely performed after heart transplants to watch for signs of rejection. They are also done if you have signs of myocarditis, cardiac amyloidosis, or certain cardiomyopathies.
