New Haven, Connecticut is a coastal city on the southern end of the state, along the northern shores of Long Island Sound. The land was originally home to the Quinnipiac tribe before the city was founded by English Puritans in 1638 and became one of the first “planned cities” in the U.S. Yale University, New Haven’s most well-known landmark (as well as its largest employer), was founded in 1701, as the 3rd university in the country and one of 9 “colonial colleges” founded prior to the Revolutionary War. It is also home to the world’s first telephone exchange, telephone directory, and public phone. Locals refer to New Haven as the “Cultural Capital of Connecticut,” due to its abundance of arts venues, and it earned the nickname “The Elm City,” having had the first public tree planting program in the U.S.
The weather in New Haven, CT is seasonal, with fairly classic snowy Winters, hot and humid Summers, temperate and rainy Springs, and chilly but beautiful Falls. Don’t forget to check the weather a few days before you visit.

- Located minutes from Yale New Haven Hospital, The Suites includes 24 suites with extended stay options. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates are available.

- Complimentary transportation to and from the hospital (on a first-come, first-served basis).
- All rooms have kitchenettes.
- Ronald McDonald House at 860 Howard Avenue, New Haven, CT 06519 (203-777-5683)
- The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families can stay while their child is being treated at the hospital. A referral from a hospital staff member is required before a family can register as a guest at the House. A modest fee is charged per night.
- Yale New Haven Hospital offers transportation from the hospital to the Ronald McDonald House. Please call Protective Services at 203-688-2500 in advance of the time you would like to leave.

Many lodging options that do not include a kitchenette do have refrigerators and/or microwaves available to guests. You may need to request them in advance.

3-star hotel; The COE discount rate (approx. $139-$149/night plus tax), can be booked by calling the hotel and asking to speak with Jamie or Valerie in Sales. Please note that there may be blackout dates. Connecting rooms are available and can be guaranteed at the time of reservation. Some rooms have sofas, some have kitchenettes, some have a full kitchen, and some have a fridge. Be sure to check the details of the room you book to ensure certain features. Paid parking is available on site. There is not a hotel courtesy shuttle, but the CT Transit Green Shuttle to Union Station is free and stops at the hotel.

The Blake Hotel (203-390-5352)
4-star hotel; While there is not a COE discount, if you use code BOOKDIRECT on the website, you will get 15% off the nightly rate. All rooms have full kitchenettes (including Nespresso coffee machine). There are sofas in all of the suites and some of the single King rooms. Connecting rooms are available between Single King Suites and Double Queen Suites; they cannot be guaranteed. ADA Room reservations should be made by phone. Paid parking is available on site.

3-star hotel; The COE Discount is 15% off the nightly rate; call the hotel and ask for the "Yale Patient and Visitor Rate." All rooms have a fridge and chaise lounge. Suites have microwaves, and there is a microwave available in the lobby for other guests. Paid parking is available on site. There is a courtesy shuttle to the hospital, which is shared with The Suites at Yale New Haven Hospital next door; call 203-688-2500 15-20 minutes before your desired departure time to request a pick-up. They are available 24/7.

3-star hotel; This is a "climate-first hotel." Connecting rooms are available and can typically be guaranteed by calling to make the request. Deluxe rooms have a sofa bed. There is a fridge in every room, while microwaves are available upon request. Parking on site is complimentary. Hotel Marcel has an all-electric shuttle that is complimentary for guests. The shuttle serves a 5-mile radius (which includes the Center of Excellence and Tweed-New Haven Airport) from the hotel, is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and is dependent upon the driver's schedule for the day.
