We are writing to let you know about an exciting new study called Lifestyle and Exercise in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, "Live HCM"whose goal is to determine how lifestyle and exercise impact the well-being of individuals with HCM. This study is funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Currently, it is recommended that individuals with HCM avoid most vigorous sports, based on possible links between vigorous competitive sports and sudden cardiac arrest. However, the risks and benefits of mild, moderate, or vigorous exercise for HCM patients remain unknown. LIVE-HCM is looking to obtain information on how exercise and other lifestyle choices affect the well-being of people living with HCM throughout the lifespan, from children to adults.
Welcome to the NEW HCMA website and membership management platform. We have been working very hard over the last 6 months to create not only a beautiful, functional and intuitive website to help you understand HCM - we have built way more! This new platform will give you more ways to get involved, get support, access advocacy and information. You will be able to manage your HCMA membership, join committees, and communicate with others who are facing issues similar to your own. You will also be able to access HCM specialists with a few clicks and much more in coming months.
For the last 18 years, HCMA has provided a high level of service, support and advocacy to its members and supporters. In order to further increase our strength, the Board of Directors created two new membership options: Individual Membership and Lifetime Membership. These two new membership options will help both the HCMA and our members as we work towards a common goal.
