The MaineHealth Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Center is the first and only HCMA‑recognized Center of Excellence in Northern New England. Founded in 2017, the program is dedicated to delivering guideline‑directed, patient‑centered care for individuals and families affected by HCM. Based in Scarborough, Maine, with its primary hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland, the center serves patients across the region through a multidisciplinary team of HCM‑focused cardiologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff. The program provides comprehensive evaluation and longitudinal management of HCM, including advanced cardiac imaging, risk stratification for sudden cardiac death, and genetic counseling with screening for first‑degree relatives. Patients have access to a full spectrum of coordinated subspecialty care, including electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, cardiothoracic surgery, genetics, and behavioral health. The center also offers cardiac myosin inhibitor (CMI) therapy, supported by a dedicated CMI clinic. The program emphasizes collaborative care, patient education, and close partnership with referring clinicians to support continuity and optimal outcomes across all stages of HCM.
