Welcome to the HCMA

The HCMA website is designed to help you understand HCM, the HCMA and get active in our community.

Like many visitors to our website you are here to gather information about HCM.  Many of you are dealing with the news of a recent diagnosis and are likely feeling overwhelmed, confused and stressed.  Some of you have been living with HCM for years and are now taking the step to better understand or simply update yourself on your condition. Unfortunately some of our visitors are here after learning about HCM too late - after the death of a loved one. Regardless of your reason for visiting we are glad you are here and we hope to make learning about HCM as clear, honest and factual as possible.

This website has been arranged to help build up your knowledge and understanding of HCM.  To navigate the site use the menu on the left side of your screen and start at “Overview” and work your way down the list.  We suggest you read the articles in the order they appear.

Once you have a basic understanding of HCM including screening, management and lifestyle issues we encourage you to learn about the HCMA, the organization that made this website possible.  Again we suggest you read the articles in order they appear in the menu.

Finally we invite you to visit the HCMA Community and participate in our active message board community.  Any questions you may have after reading the site can be posted to the message board.  HCMA staff and trained volunteers monitor the board and respond to your posts very promptly.
