Re: Anxiety post Myectomy (1 1/2 year after).
Kelly, Sorry you had to go through this, but I think (IMHO) what happen is not HCM related, but sounds like depression.
You're in a very demanding field trying to prove to yourself (and others) that you can do it. This is tough. I think depression has slowly crept in and taken control.
I think you can do it and I think you can too - but this condition has you second guessing.
Do seek help, perhaps medication, maybe a short medical leave is in order. I had lost my sister and mother within a year of my DX, I then had surgery, a divorce and lost my job (in that order). When I did get a job, it was the most stressful of my life - 15 hour days. Then my dad died. I didn't realize that depression was affecting me (I am a cheerful, glass half full, kind of guy).
I sought help, got on meds (which really helped my ADD) and within a few sessions, I made some decisions, took a medical leave, got fired (yeah!) got my life back on track and couldn't be happier. Getting on meds made a world of difference in me. I'm hoping whatever road you take, you get back to your old confident self. You've got tons of support here - Keep us posted & G'Luck!
