Hi,
James Driskell was my dad. He died December 19, 1991 at the age of 36. He had been given an incorrect diagnosis about 6 months earlier of mitral valve prolapse. He was fine and he suffered sudden death after dinner, sitting in his chair, watching TV. His autopsy report listed HCM as cause of death. To my knowledge, other than suffering chest pains that sent him to the hospital (where he was incorrectly diagnosed), there were no other symptoms. He was not athletic, he had been a mechanic all his professional life.
