Hi,

Are most people taking 81 mg of aspirin as part of their regular regimen? Also, are statins ever contraindicated because of their negative affect on muscles? And, finally, my family doctor is willing to give me Ativan to help me sleep through the night and not wake up screaming from the nightmares caused by my rhythmodan-Monocor combination. Is this a bad idea?

Thanks,
Laura

I take a regular strength aspirin, 325 mg. once a day. I just had an evaluation with Dr. Ommen at Mayo Clinic who said that this was okay for me vs. Coumadin as I don't have much a-fib. I believe that he said that any strength 50-500 mg. was about 67% as effective as Coumadin. I know that he said that over 500 mg. had no increased effect, so I wouldn't get a gain by doubling the aspirin dose. --Lisa Inman

I take 2 asprin (650 mg) everyday for a few reasons...

- I have a history of blood clots in my left calf.

- Episodes of a-fib

- The extreme pain in my legs during my daily activities.
