Well, it seems as thought I have not responded to the meds that were chosen to improve my EF, and will get a new device. The date chosen is 4-25-05.
I spoke with Dr. Lever, and he agreed that I could have the device implanted at my local hospital, and they even have the laser required to remove my old pacer and leads. Local EP, Dr. Yunis, will have the honor. He has a 100% success rate for removal of old leads to date, and comes highly regarded......
Still have not come to terms with "End stage", but the reality is that my EF is 20-24%, 9 years post Myectomy. I was non-cooperative with Coreg, and Altace is not helping as they would have liked.
I was lucky enough, (or unlucky?) to have to be hospitalized for over a week for complications from back surgery. There was a small accident while in the NICU, and I had to move to a CCU unit, and was monitored for the hospitals safety. They got to capture about a weeks worth of "normal" heart rhythms for me, which included mild AF and small runs of VT (seemed small to me), 8 beats consecutive. They wouldn't release me until an EP made a full diagnosis. I explained to him that I had seen Dr. Martin, along with Dr. Lever at CCF, and understood exactly where I stood.
I don't post too often, but lurk here daily. I'll let you all know when the deed is done.....
