My 9 year old son - soon to be 10 next week told me last night that he was light headed. He said his head felt like it was empty and that he felt like he was in a movie. It was after church last night, he was playing around with the kids in his room, but nothing really physical like running.
I am so worried about him. He is on atenolol. He wore a 24 hour holter monitor a month ago and everything was fine. he wears one of these once a year. He said he has only had this one other time.
I'm really worried about him. Is this just a normal thing he will have?
His septal measurement is around 21-26 mm.
Thanks
Barbara

Hi Barbara.

My dauighter complained of lightheadedness and fatigue in a way that really had us worried. She had not yet been diagnosed. We took her for a screening and a cardio workup. They said she was perfectly normal, but perhaps was suffering from not drinking enough. So we started making sure she got enough to drink each day and the symptoms disappeard.

That being said, lightheadedness is one symptom almost every one of us has experienced. I would take it seriously.

Peace,

Leon

Barbara,
Fist of all - How are YOU? It has been a while since we chatted.

Yes, lightheadedness happens to many with HCM. I would discuss this symptoms with your sons doctor sooner then later. It may be nothing and it may be something. (dont you like how specific that was  ).

Take care,
Lisa
