According to USA Today, nearly 27,000 Americans received an organ tranosplant last year. That is a new national record. Over 20,000 of these used organs from 7,000 deceased donors. They say it is an 11% increase from 2003. I hope I can encourage those of you waiting for a heart or anyone else who is interested to volunteer for your local OPO (Organ Procurement Organization) and speak or volunteer at health fairs to get the word out. Personal stories are the greatest incentive to have people sign up to be donors. In April I am going to St. Paul to a conference put on by Transplant Speakers International. My goal some day is to volunteer for them. So, for those of you waiting for a heart it is encouraging news that there is an increase of people signing up to be donors. Have patience and it will come. God Bless.

Thank you Midge - It is nice to see more transplants being done - just think of how many more their would be if more people understood the process better.

Education is the key!

Best wishes,
Lisa

that is great news!!!!! now if i can just get on the list maybe i can get one and stop all this being sooo tired all the time, you know i have my dad here now and honestly i don't know how i do it, but i have noticed a change in chest pain and getting lightheaded, i can't believe my 4 brothers can't take him but i can't turn him away he is my dad and he is in bad health too, my sister and my family help when they can but alot of times i'm left with him alone during the day, and he expects me to fix him lunch and i get up and do it he can't even make up his pills anymore he gets confused, i showed my sister how to make his pills up just in case i go into the hospital, i refuse to put him in a home, i promised him years ago that i wouldn't , well i guess the doctor here has talked to Dr.Maron but he has not called me yet to discuss what they said and Dr. Maron also sent him papers by fax so hopefully they will do something soon. You take care and i hope you had a great Easter

I was at my transplant docs office today deciding wether I needed a tune up or not and I voted and he agreed to give me one more day at home to try to get the extra fluid off and then it's admitted for a few days. But while I was there they said they alone did 42 heart transplants last year. WHHHHOOOOOOO!!!!! I'll get mine yet and hopefully soon. I can't wait to get into the scene and teach people what it's all about to donate.

Yeah!
