Looking for Surgeon in Arizona

Hi - It has been recommended by 2 cardiologist for me to undergo a Myectomy. Does anyone know of a qualified cardiac surgeon in Arizona

She will be able to give you a tremendous amt of info and provide some resources for you to investigate. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and I know there are several members that post regularly that live in Arizona. Choosing a doctor, especially a surgeon, is a tricky decision when HCM is involved. Lisa attends many medical conferences every year, AHA, ACC & Heart Rhythm Society (formerly NASPE). She meets doctors and educates many on HCM and pulls many into the HCMA as "advisers" and/or knowledgeable advocates for the condition.

My recommendation is to speak with Lisa off line (on the phone) so she can help you with either an HCM specialist closest to your area or a known surgeon in Arizona that is very familiar with HCM and the workings of the HCMA.

Sorry we can't just spit out a name for you, but getting the right doctor can be as tricky as the condition of HCM. I hope that you are able to speak with Lisa within a short time. She is usually in the office on Tuesday's and Thursday's each week.

Okay, I'm getting on my soapbox here......

No there is not a qualified surgeon to do a myectomy in Phoenix -- trust me.
You're lucky to find a cardio that knows something about HCM in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
In the past 10 years I have seen numerous cardiologists (in the double digits).

I have finally found one cardio that know something about HCM/HOCM.

My last cardiologist said that if I "wanted" a myectomy, I would have to go to some teaching hospital in Georgia to have it done since I do not have health insurance.

Don't let anyone here in Phoenix do a myectomy on you, especially the Arizona Heart Institute/ AZ Heart Hospital. I have heard of some very unfortunate HCM surgeries that took place there.
