LOW-COST HEART SCREENINGS

Two organizations provide low-cost heart screenings in South Carolina:

* A Heart For Sports foundation: The California-based organization has
performed screenings across the nation, including five in South Carolina since
Oct. 2003. The student-athlete's cost for the screening procedure ranges from
free of charge to $50, depending on the situation. Patricia Sims is the
organization's contact in South Carolina.

* Athletes For Life: Operated locally by Columbia's Don Bundrick, this
organization offers heart screenings, including electrocardiograms and
echocardiograms, for $50 per child. Payment plans are available for anyone
unable to pay at the time of the screening. The organization has performed
screenings at Brookland-Cayce, Airport and Gilbert high schools.

I think that is great, i think the word may be finally getting out about the sudden death risk in our young people
