Could someone please tell me what shows up on a EKG that would make a doctor think youve had a heart attack....... my son went to the minor emergency room this afternoon having chest pain nausea and lightheadedness which he has had for 2 or 3 days now he has been taking his meds that is the first thing i asked him and he has been drinking the water the doctor wants him to drink , he doesn't smoke and he quit drinking months ago after he found out he had this disease, oh yes he also has HCM with a AICD also, i would apreciate any information you can give me

The thickness in the heart can look like 'damage' on an EKG. It is extremely common for a person with HCM to be told they have had a 'heart attack' based on the EKG alone.

I myself was told I had a heart attack when I was about 18! I have never had an MI - I just have good ole HCM.
