I had my alcohol ablation about 1-2 years ago. I had it done at Loyola Hospital by Dr. Leya. It went smooth, when I came out I had a normal heart rythym for the first time ever! It was exciting. I really felt good. However, the past year I have gone in and out of heart failure and SOB has resumed. So, something is not perfect right now. Has anyone else gone throuygh the same thing? I had it when i was only 26 years old but at the time that I had it done it was the thickest he had seen. They said I really needed to have it done.

I have spoken to a few people similar to you. This is a very complicated issue and one that needs a great deal of attention. I know of several young - under 40- who have had alcohol ablations who soon after went into heart failure and progressed into burnt out HCM. These cases are very much a concern. I think a visit to a specialist who really understands the entire HCM process will shed some light on what is happening here.

Best wishes,
