UFF DA!
I got a call from our friend Mary (sharp - aka toogoofy) a little while ago. Some people just can not catch a break!
Mary is in the hospital with 2 blood clots - one in her leg - the other in her lung. She expected to be in the hospital until at least Monday.
She was in good spirits ...but missing the internet BIG TIME! I told her I would call her and read your messages to her.
Burt - Mary said she hopes you are not worried about her!
Lets all keep Mary in our thoughts and prayers!

Of course I’m worried about her. I’d have to be made of stone not to be. She is such a good kid, and a strong kid, and yet she goes from one stinking problem to another.
If she has her cell phone with her – or the hospital phone, please PM me with the number, and tell her her “grandpa” loves her.
Since this is National Prayer Day, why don’t we all send her our best. She deserves all the help she can get.

Golly, Mary! Can't you keep it together for a week?!? Just kidding. I hope that you're fixed up ~ again ~ and good to go next week. Was it the 12 hour days that got ya?

I spoke with Mary a short while ago also. She was tired, obviously in need of a nap, but hanging in there. I know all the well wishes and prayers will cheer her. She is receiving great support from her work supervisor, and that will help her tremendously. Linda

Hi All,
Just got off the phone with Mary. Her spirits are still good, and she says she is being treated very well. She’s in the hospital where she works, and her co-workers have all been down to see her, plus she had some friends drop by yesterday. Believe it or not, even one of her patients dropped in to see her. Now that’s a likeable kid.
She said she was going to ask the nurse for something and take a nap, but after the nap if anybody would like to talk to her, she’d like the call. Her hospital phone number is (321) 841 – 0596 – (she asked me to post it.) She’s on complete bed rest and a restricted fluid intake, so no wild drinking orgies please – at least not for now.

Well Burt, I talked to Mary after you did. Your call did wonders for her, I could feel the glow thru the phone! She sounded much better today. All the prayers and well wishes are helping. She knows it's one more challenge, but with the help and support of all, she'll lick this one too. Linda

Mary sends her best to all, she really appreciates the calls and messages she has received. Things are moving right along with med regulation, it just takes time. Sounds like a bit of rest won't hurt her at all. She's a real go-getter, so slowing down for a few days is a difficult concept for her. Linda

Well,
Thanks so much to all of you! I've got a great family here at the HCMA.
They decided to go ahead and release me today. Surprised me especially as sick as I was last night. I am still very tired an my leg hurts something terrible. At least, I don't go back to work until Thursday. I hope my pt levels stay where they are and I can get to my doc. on Monday.
I was a bit down at first because it just seems that I can never get a break. But I'm also lucky to make it through all of this too!
Thanks again for the support!
Mary S.

Mary, what a year you've had! Glad you are home and recouping. If Thursday is too soon, please stay home for awhile longer. Blood clots are nothing to play around with. Hope you get back in the "pink" before long.

It's kinda odd that everyone is saying to stay home for a week at least. That is everyone but the doctor that I saw. The note he wrote said I could go back to work tomorrow. Even the my nurse manager was saying I'd be out for a while.
Any suggestions out there. This is something I'm completly new to. And honestly am a bit scared about the whole thing. I'm not wanting to screw up on this one!

I just IM’d with Mary. She’s weak, sore, and in discomfort. We talked and she’s on her way back to the ER at the hospital where she was an in-patient. I really think they discharged her too soon. I asked her to have a friend along to help her cope, as she says she’s weak – and if she says she’s weak, she’s probably just totally dragging around.
Mary or I will let you know more, as we find out more.

Got a call from Mary,
She made it safely to the ER - and is being readmitted. They ran another CT scan to see how the blood clot was progressing, but don't have the results back yet. Did some more blood tests and her numbers are all screwed up again, and her O2 level was - I think she said 84, and she's SOB.
So this trained tech. takes off her oxygen and, huffing and puffing, she gives me a call. OK, she's my adopted granddaughter, but if I knew her better I'd still give her a good spanking. She thinks of everybody but herself.
When she's better I'm going to give her a good talking to - but I know it won't help. That's just the way she is - but lovable.
More when I know more.

Hi Mary, I am sorry that you are having problems. I have been off the board fon a bit. My computor is down and I have to get to the coffee house to use the computor to check the board and my e-mail. I hope you are taking care of yourself. Take Burts advice, he seems to know a lot about almost anything we talk about here. It is good to have him to help us out.
So remember that we are all thingking and praying for you to get well soon.

Mary is armed with her cell phone, and as long as the battery doesn't run down, she's going to be hanging in there. She appreciates all the prayers and well-wishes. Linda

Spoke with Mary a bit ago. She sounds much better, and wasn’t SOB. She’s not perfect yet, but definitely headed in the right direction. I got a land line number for her, but we don’t know for sure if it goes to the phone by her bed. Once that’s confirmed I’ll post it for everybody.
All your prayers and good wishes seem to be doing the trick. By all means please continue.

Hey all...
They're letting me use one of the terminals at the nursing station here at the hospital, so I thought i'd make a quick post. Mary and I had a great chat earlier... hospital room to hospital room. I think it made us both feel a lot better being able to chat with the other 'inpatient' on the board. As long as we're both in the hospital, we plan on chatting at least once a day and keep each other company :)
Mary's new phone number at the hospital is: (321) 841-0021
She says it's fine to call anytime.

Hi,
I tried calling Mary's hospital room today and there was no answer... in fact the phone didn't even ring at all. Does anyone know if she has been released or what her status is?
Thanks,
Jim

I just talked with Mary. She’s still in the hospital. She had some problems with the phone yesterday, but it’s again working fine. The number is 1(321) 841 – 0021. She took the cell phone re-charger with her to the hospital but for some reason it isn’t working, so her cell phone is shut off – out of juice.
She says she’s feeling a lot better (and sounds it too). She’s hoping they can remove the tube down her throat today. (One of the nurses snuck her a little ice cream to ease the dryness, otherwise everything goes down the tube.)
They did some more testing on her, including a pelvic scan, and she thinks there may be a surgical consult in the works, but her spirits are still good. (That is her outlook – she’s not allowed to have spirits – or anything else for that matter.)
She appreciates the calls and well wishes. She says it’s nice to have people care about her. What a girl.

I will try to call her in the morning.
Best wishes to all.
