Why can't you drink grapefruit juice while on verapamil??

There is a chemical that is in grapefruit and therefore in high concentration in grapefruit juice that makes active properties in verapimil, well basicly useless.

It is a good ideal to avoid grapefruit juice if on verapimil.

I asked the pharamacist about that and he said cause the Verapamil and grapefruit compete for the same metabolism enzyme in the liver.

Grapefruit juice is not good for a lot of medications.
