Bisoprolol Fumurate

I've been taking Bisoprolol Fumurate (also known as Zebeta) 10mg for quite some time now. I don't have any major complaints. I was wondering if anyone else knows anything about this?

Hi Iven, yes, I am taking it and also at the same doseage as you.
I was switched to Atenolol, but it slowed my heart rate down too much, so my doc switched me to this.
My heart rate has not changed (around 50 beats/min.), so I guess we'll have to try something else, hopefully not a pacer.
Seems to me it work fine other than that.

I'm also on bisoprolol fumarate, but a different dose, 2.5mg. I've been on it for two years. The first year I was on it, I felt great - it was the best drug I had tried so far and I felt I had finally found the right beta blocker for myself - I was symptom-free and I didn't feel tired or get any other side effects. But after about an year, my symptoms returned, and I feel quite fatigue and down. I'm sure my cardiologist will start me on a different beta blocker next time I visit him.

My doctor would like to increase my dose because my heart rate is on the high side of normal (about 70 beats/min), but I'm not able to tolerate the higher doses and even with the small dose of 2.5mg, my blood pressure is about 100/60.

Other than that, I like the once a day dosing and I believe its absorption is not affected by food (though I take it with food anyways).

Bisoprolol Fumerate is sold as Monocor in Canada. It is used to lessen midventricular obstruction.
It is regarded as the most selective beta-blocker on the market, and therefor is of potential benefit to asthmatics.
