I got my battery chaned for my ICD on Tues morning at Mass General, in Boston and all went well, except when it came time to take my Verapamil. The Drs and the pharmacists downstairs refused to give me my full dose of 570mg. They said they never heard of such a high does and the most the have ever given, and the most they WOULD give me is 480. Well this kind of got me angry only for the fact of why would they think I was playing Dr by myself? I could see if it was a narcotic or something but it was verapamil. So needless to say everytime a nurse came in it seemed to me as if they were trying to catch me in a lie, they would always bring up the dose. Well this was getting on my nerves and finally I asked the nurse why I keep getting asked about my dose. She said to me that the "Dr. was unaware of the dose you are taking" which was a bunch of crap. Cause I had to meet with him 3 weeks before the surgery and he asked what heart medications I am currently taking, when I told him his eyes bugged out of his head. He even asked my Drs names and I gave him both Dr Udelson and Dr Marons name. I even gave him the number. The big KILLER to me was when he came in to release me he told me "when you go home start back on your regular dose". It just got me mad cause I felt as if I was trying to be made out a liar, and in the end I stuck to my story and he realized I wasnt. That was my interesting experience!!!!
