Reagan relay team competes
A Reagan High School boys' relay team will compete today and Saturday at the
adidas Outdoor Track and Field championships in Raleigh, N.C.
The quartet of Irie Williams, Cory Sterling, Paul Darby and Derek Franks will
run the 800- and 1,600-meter relays. The four have covered the shorter relay in
1 minute, 24.95 seconds, and the 1,600 in 3:10.78.
Free heart checks
for area athletes
The Austin Heart Foundation will have free heart screenings on mobile
echocardiogram machines for student-athletes this morning in Marble Falls.
The Championship Hearts program, designed to detect possible heart defects
for boys and girls, will be from 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Austin Heart Marble
Falls, 1800 Mormon Mill Road, Building B, Suite 2.
Specifically, student- athletes between ages 15 to 18 are checked for
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the No. 1 cause of sudden death in young people.

Also this summer, the Austin Heart Foundation will have screenings in San
Marcos on June 21, Killeen on July 17, Austin on Aug. 9, Giddings on Aug. 16 and
Round Rock on Aug. 23.

Texas Lutheran
signs three players
Three Austin-area football players have signed to play this fall at Texas
Lutheran University in Seguin.
Georgetown running back Aaron Fulton, Hays linebacker Joshua Cabiya and LBJ
cornerback Max Hargrove will play with the Bulldogs, Coach Tom Mueller said.
