beta blocker helping arrythmias

I've read that Sotolol helps with arrythmias more so than other beta blockers??

Sotolol - Betapace is an anti arrythmic drug that contains a beta blocker. Beta blockers are not proven to have any effect on the reduction of arrythmias - although it is thought that it helps... there is a lack of data to support it.
Here is some basic information on BetaPace/Sotolol - Taken from the Berlex website:

BETAPACE® (sotalol hydrochloride), is an antiarrhythmic drug with Class II (betaadrenoreceptor blocking) and Class III (cardiac action potential duration prolongation) properties. It is supplied as a light-blue, capsule-shaped tablet for oral administration. Sotalol hydrochloride is a white, crystalline solid with a molecular weight of 308.8. It is hydrophilic, soluble in water, propylene glycol and ethanol, but is only slightly soluble in chloroform. Chemically, sotalol hydrochloride is d,l-N-[4-[1-hydroxy-2-[(1-methylethyl)amino]ethyl]-phenyl]methane-sulfonamide monohydrochloride.
