Debit cards

Hi, Has anyone had problmes with debit cards not lasting after having an ICD put in? I have been through 4 or 5 in the last 10 months. That is when I got my ICD put in. I had my first on for years. Can the ICD be blamed for this? Any help would be great.

My husband has had his ICD for 2.5 years and we are still using the same cards as before, except of course when they send us a new one for the expiration date change. Do you carry yours near your ICD? Or is there any way you are accidentally leaving the card for short periods of time on the magnetic thingy at the registers of stores? This will erase the strip on the back of them. Other than that, I have no idea. Anyone else?

I do not think it is your ICD - I had a prblem once due to the design of my wallet...do not store cards with the mag. strip against each other that can deactivate the strip.

Speaking of weird things happening with the Implant! I work at Innoventions at Epcot and we always get to play with the latest technologies. Our latest exhibit is Segway. I am sure many of you know about the human transporter. Well anyway I ride one as part of my show. as a safety feature they have an intelligent key system that uses a 64 bit encrypted key. when we are demonstrating it we are supposed to cover that area so that the guest don't connect with that and the metal screw at the bottom to keep it from shorting out (which only happens if their hands are soaked). Everytime my left hand gets within three inches of it the device malfunctions and shuts down. Very embarrasing :oops: ! I now have the nickname Segway killer. Anyone have an explantion. This did not happen before my ICD implant.

HI, Reenie, Lisa and "segway killer", thanks for all the information. I could have left my card by one of the magnetic things. I do carry my card in my breast inside pocket. But If you have not had any problmes it is probably not my ICD. :shock: It must be my magnetic personality. :P

On another note, I hope that you do not have to pay for the Segways when they go belly up. I am glad that it is the Segway that has problmes
and not you.
