During a recent visit to my electrophysiologist, he was taking a family history. I have lost 6 relatives to HCM, so it was taking a while. He was calmly writing down the relationships and the ages they lived to, then with a straight face he looked right and me and asked, "And when did YOU die?"
Honestly, I had to laugh! I informed him that I'm still here, thanks very much! He knew I had been in Vfib and been saved by my ACID, and he explained that for statistical purposes, I was considered to have died at that point. Really!! Funny way to put it, don't you think?
