[does dental problem have affects in HCM patients]

I have a question. is dental problem will have a side effect in your heart if you have hcm...
i think i need to have a root canal on my one of my teeth...i know i need to inform my dentist that i have a heart problem..i don'y know whats the reason... is it beacuse of the anestisia.....does dental problem have affects in HCM patients

Hi Emmanuel,
When you have dental work done,even just cleaning you are suppost to take an antibiotic before and some doctors have you take it after as well.
The reason being that you can get a blood infection and get very sick from it. If you look at some of the earlier posting you can get more information on it.

Dear Emmanuel
Tell your dentist you need to be "premedicated" with antibiotics and they will call in a prescription to your pharmacy for something, usually amoxicillin. You will need to take some an hour before the appointment and sometimes some afterwards, too.
This will proctect your heart from any bacteria that gets into the blood stream from your mouth when they perform the dental work ---and yes, even if you just get a cleaning, but especially for root canals and drilling since there is a higher chance of bateria getting into your blood then. The consequences of getting a pericardial infection are very unpleasant and can be severe.
