ICD Surgery at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, ON

Hi,

I will be going for an ICD implantation at Credit Valley Hospital orTrillium Hosptial in Mississauga ON, CANADA. Has anyone gone to either of these 2 hospitals for an ICD? I have met with Dr John Jovanovic and DR Michael Platonov who recommended the ICD because of my 2 previous episodes of Fainting? Anyone worked with these doctors before?

There is not HCM support group in Canada so i'm hoping to hear from someone who resides in the province of ON and can provide me with some advice as to where i should go or what i should do.

I had my ICD placed locally here in Florida and had no issue. Hopefully you will get an answer to your question soon.

Hi diakalil,

I haven't heard anything about those doctors, or ICDs at Trillium or CVH.

However, Toronto General Hospital has a world-class HCM clinic, and has a lot of experience with medical and surgical management of HCM. (Their surgical outcomes from myectomies are just as good as Mayo and CC). Dr. Anna Woo and Dr. Harry Rakowski there are both excellent. I'd strongly recommend seeing if you can get a referral there. If you live in Mississauga, it is not far to travel.

Hi Laika,

Thank you for the advice. I'm schedulled for the ICD on Dec 21st, however,I
ve asked to have an MRI done prior but the cardiologist at CVH does not think it's necessary. I do want it to be done so that We have a mapping of my heart. Do you know anywhere else in the GTA area where we can get a cardiac MRI done? All the hospital have at least 2 monts waiting period. Once he has the ICD , he can NEVER get the an MRI ever again.. :mad:
