Friends the Methods to quit smoking (http://www.medquit.com), the most required topic to be discussed. Let’s have a briefing on it.

To quit something that we are used with is a difficult task, whatever the matter is. If you have ever tried to quit smoking, you would probably know how hard the task is. Studies have found that, each time you try to quit, you will become stronger and will learn about what made you to slip away from your desire to stop the habit all the time. Anyone can stop smoking if they set the decision with their heart.

It is not the age, health or lifestyle that matters, but having a strong plan along with others support is important. The first step in quitting is to decide a proper date and then to decide the way to quit smoking.

Whatever the matter be, is the positive attitude that drives us into something worth, something of our desire. So let’s be true in what we are, let’s move on with the same spirit.

I had a plan. It's called silly putty, and about 11 years ago I started playing with silly putty every day all day. A few months later I quit smoking and kept playing with the silly putty for another year.

Sometimes it's not about the mouth. Sometimes it's about the hands. Good luck to any future quitters!

I had quit over 25 years ago, with occasional relapses over the green felt tables of Vegas for a few years afterward, but that died as well.
I made it as inconvenient as possible. I kept them in the glove box (locked) in the car (locked & alarmed) in the garage (lock). I'd do this at home & at work. I did enjoy them, but they became a hassle, and I slowly tapered off. I agree with Deedee that keeping your hands busy is useful. I used to snap a rubberband I kept around my wrist & also kept a pencil in my hand (and can still twirl & tumble it) at all times.
It takes focus, but it can be done. It also helped that my Mother-in-law ironically was DX with inoperable lung cancer about 2 months into my plan to quit & that really motivated me.
