Caffeine

Have any of you been formally advised by a Dr to avoid it?

Absolutely! I am prone to a-fib and the Dr. even told me to stay away from decaf coffee. I do ignore him on that one, but generally stay away from caffeinated products. Kinda ironic since I have a coffee roasting business.

I'm sure Leon will chime in, but decaf still has caffeine in it, just not as much.

Yes, Dr. Ommen recommended I stop drinking caffeine. So, I quit- cold turkey. A bit of a headache for a bit, but now all is well. I do drink caffeine free Diet Coke (one a day) and have a cup of caffeine free coffee on most days. I know there's still caffeine in the caffeine-free products, but not too much compared to the caffeinated kinds.

Linda is right. Decaf coffee has as much as 3% caffeine in it.

I've actually been told twice that -- for me -- a cup or two a day is fine. I suspect that this varies among people, though.

Yes, and I actually knew I needed to quit caffeine before my diagnosis and before being told by my doc because of how it made my heart act/feel. I quit alcoholic drinks for the same reason as well.

OK, so a few have been told. But clearly, not as many as I would have expected.

Its actually quite surprising. There seems to be quite a lot of press out there about exercise, but very little in terms of stimulants like caffeine.

I might never know for sure, but I for one am fairly confident I had some scary v-tach/v-fib episodes induced by caffeine in the past.

Obviously I quit the caffeine kick, 100% my own decision.

no but i wish i had been
use 2 drink it all the time even thou it use 2 but me in to AF
but been young and dumb i use to think nah my doctor hasent told me not 2 drink it yet, so i will be fine
