What does anybody know about Solatol,Tikosyn or Dornedarome (spelling)? I am going to the Cleveland Clinic on Nov 9th to take one of these meds to see if they can get me out of afib. They may have to shock me. Won't know till they try the meds. I have to stay and be observed for 4 days.
This will be my third trip to the clinic in the last month. The first time was one day for some tests. The second time was also one day for a consoltation.

Hi Tigger1,
I have no personal experience with any of those meds. But I want to wish you luck -- my one bout of afib was miserable, and I know you're hoping that this works!
Others on this board have taken those drugs, though, and I'm sure they'll respond.

I have been on sotalol for almost 2 years. When I tried to go down on my dosage I went into a fib twice within 48 hours. I then had to be cardio converted and the dosage was increased. It seems to work for me pretty well, but it does make you tired. My dosage is 160mg 2 times a day. I went on a lower dosage several years ago and it made it so hard for me to function I went off of it. I have learned to adjust things. I don't care to go into to a fib again.

I am in afib right now. They want me to go on one of these meds to try to keep me out of afib. I am always tired now from being in afib. I want to get some energy back and I was hopeing this would help. What good is another med (this would be number 7 daily) if I'm still going to be tired all the time.
I will be in Cleveland Nov 9-12 to see how well I do with one of these.

Tigger really what are your options? You have to try right cause being in a-fib is pretty crappy and it compounds the fatigue.
The longest I had to stay in a-fib was a month and a week until I got stabilized on coumadin and they could safely cardiovert me. I agree .. any time spent in a-fib is most unpleasant and during that time everything seem to just hang waiting for... I didn't even know what. It made me feel very uncertain about a lot of stuff. It is not what anyone wants to have to experience so i am very sorry for you and this experience. I got on it quite quickly the next time I went into it and said, no more get me out of this and try to make it for good this time! Unfortunately at that time my PCP had made some false assumptions that someone else was monitoring my coumadin levels and it necessitated me having to have another TEE because it seems I was not therapeutic and there could have been a clot in my left atria. The anger from that unnecessary experience and the botched job of my PCP left me yelling at her on the phone asking if she had ever had a TEE and how dare my care be so ineffective.
So after I was cardioverted that time, it also lit a fire under me. So I took my troubles to Dr Maron away from my PCP and my EP( neither of whom knew diddly squat about HCM other then what they should have learned about HCM while having me as their patient) and I asked Dr Maron to try and fix this and fix it right. So I went into Tufts and he assigned my case to a very nice, smart EP and I had Sotalol loaded. I went in on a Thursday and came out on Sunday. It was very easy I took pills and then went home.. I had no ill effects from the sotalol and it still works well @80 mg 2x's a day. Too bad I caught C-diff from the room mate I had..everything would have been perfect.
