Hi everyone,

When I saw my cardiologist and told him about my lung problems and when he heard weezing in my lungs, he suggested I might take Advair.

He did not write me a prescription for it yet.

Does anyone know anything about Advair?

Thank you very much for any information.

Eve

I took it for about 6 months and did not notice any positive effects... it really seems to be the DHF that is the issue for me.

Like Pam I got absolutely no results either, they had me on it for 6 months after surgery, but I asked to go off of it because I felt It wasn't doing any good, good luck Eileen.

A couple years ago I was on it for a season, and it helped. No HCM problems that I noticed.

I have been on Advair for many years to control my asthma and it works fine. Well- As long as I am not taking a sizable dose of Beta blocker to undo all the good that the Advair does.

There are some fine points in how you take the discus medication. Many people are not aware that you must hold the discus a certain way(level), exhale fully before inhaling the medicine and hold you breathe for about 10 seconds to get the full delivery of the medicine. It has worked well for me unless I forget to take it.

If you do not have a true asthma condition at work in your body, I suspect it probably would have no affect on your breathing. It is a combination of an inhaled corticosteroid(soothes inflamed tissues and prevents inflamation) and a long acting bronchodilator( keeps airways open)

Breathe well! I no longer take the absense of wheezing for granted!

(Adding this by editing and having a tough time getting it to take- sorry for any repetitions.--) PS- It also takes at least 2-4 weeks of continuous regular use to have a noticeable effect- Immediate results are not to be expected - - gaps in taking the medicine properly will show up as episodes of wheezing. It is a preventative medication, not to treat sudden symptoms.

I have used it several seasons and had no negative effects. It seemed to help with wheezing.
