Yesterday my daughter received a call from her internal medicine doctor.

Evidently a link has been established between the use of Ocella (generic name for Yasmin) and aldactone, and adverse effects on the heart.

Mt daughter takes both drugs. They asked her to immediately stop taking the ocella, and prescribed another drug.

I know nothing of the issue beyond this. It appears they thought it was significant enough to warrant contacting all patients who use both drugs.

Just thought I'd pass along the information.

I'm sure this will be very helpful to anyone else that is taking these medications. Thanks for sharing !

Just another note of caution....women with HCM should use caution in using a hormonal form of birth control, like the birth control pill. These pills are associated with an increased risk of stroke, esp. in women over 35 and smokers. HCM'ers are at an increased risk of stroke due to their HCM, so before any young woman with HCM goes on birth control pills (or any other form of hormones) she should seek guidance from her HCM doctor.

In my younger pre HCM diagnosis days, I took the pill without incident, but after talking it over with my HCM expert, I am staying far away from hormonal forms of birth control.
