Has anyone ever experienced Goose Bumps, chills and sweats from a combination of medications. My Doctors cannot put a finger on what is causing this. For example, my house is currently 72 degrees and I have all of the above and all I did was walk 20' through the house. My oxygen is fine and I've also developed a tremor. I have been on cardiac meds for 40 years now and I don't think enough is known about there long term affects on the body. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Sorry you're having troubles!

Your symptoms might be due to your medications, but do you have a particular reason for suspecting that's the case? The symptoms you describe are also consistent with a great many other things, like flu. What medications are you on, and have they changed recently?

I agree with Gordon, it sounds like a mild flu deal. Also have you had your blood checked lateley as having a low hemoglobin (red blood count) can cause these same symptoms. I would call and let your Dr. know what is going on.

If this has, as it seems from your post been going on for awhile then I sympathize w/ you. Are you by any chance taking Coumadin? I have been off it recently for almost a month... ..although the shivers are less, this in one common complaint, many who are on blood thinners complain of. If not perhaps it is that your heart rate is so low that you are having problems generating heat. People on beta blockers are very suscetpable to vast changes in temperature HOT or COLD and often can have difficulty regulating to a comfortable level. You know how we say we cannot tolerate heat and humidity well the same is so for extreme cold.

I sweat suddenly and then I am freezing but I am also in menopause losing my estrogen as we speak!

{Beta blockers may increase sensitivity to cold, especially in older people or people who have poor circulation. Anyone who takes this medicine should dress warmly in cold weather and should be careful not to be exposed to the cold for too long.}

As you are also reporting a "tremor" you may want to be evaluated by a neurologist. The temperature is regulated by the brain stem.

These symptoms have been going for nearly a year,and it doesn't seem to be related to med change. However it very weecould be related to coumadin and or heart rate. INR is 3.0 and heart rate is in low 60 area,and i do not tolerate any increse over 90s. Thank you for your input. Dennis
