Hello Everyone!

I haven't been on the forum since right before Katrina. My name is Dolly W and I live in St. Bernard Parish, on the outskirts of New Orleans. I was in NOLA during/after the storm, at a Nursing Home where I worked as the Dietary Manager. It was a pretty wild experience - one I hope to never have again.

Anywho - since I have limited access to internet, it has been difficult to do anything other than receive mail. However, I will try to keep up as much as possible.

I had a myectomy at Mayo 10/02, and recently had a Medronic ICD implanted 10/07. No problems with the ICD, although I did freak out when they told me that I would not be able to drive for six months! The MD said - "no restrictions", and I was driving four days after the procedure!

Things have been going pretty well since the myectomy and the ICD. I'm mostly having difficulty with chronic CHF. It might help if I would remember to take my diuretic on a regular basis (working two jobs may also have something to do with it). I finally had to swallow my pride and buy one of those little pill box thingys that reminds me of the elderly, whom I so dearly love and adore.

So, here's hoping everyone has a happy, healthy holiday!

Dolly - I am so happy to hear from you! I have thought of you often since Katrina, and have wondered how I might contact you.

I know how difficult things are down there for everyone, forget those who have a chronic health problem. I am just grateful to hear that you are doing ok.

I will send you a pm so we can catch up!

Great to have you back.

Cynthia
