My good friend Mark Musselman, age 41, is lying at UCLA tonight brain dead awaiting the necessary steps to become an organ donor. He was hit by a car on Wednesday night while crossing the street and has no more brain function. He is the father of a wonderful 6 year old girl, Isabel, and was a great husband to my best friend, Heather, and amazing father to Isabel.

We are all in shock that this tragedy occurred, but we, and I particularly because of the HCMA, are all comforted by the fact that Mark is helping others. I told my friend Heather how organ donation has changed the lives of several people I have met through the HCMA, and what a wonderful gift it is.

Please join me in praying for Isabel, Heather and that Mark's organs go to help people in need.

I'm ao sorry to read about your friend, Mark. I will pray for Mark, his family and friends. Being an organ recipient I know how important it is for people to donate and thank everyone for doing so. Without them, there are many of us that would not be here today.

God bless you, Mark and thanks!

Cynthia,

How very sad, I am keeping you all in thought and prayer. It is amazing how people can think of and give to others at a time of extreme pain and loss for them. May you all be comforted.

I got the word this afternoon that his organs were harvested today and that he was taken off the life support. I don't know more details as my friend's little girl is obviously very upset and she didn't want to discuss it in her presence. We were driving home today from Arizona and had to tell my son about his friend's daddy and then, when we got home, my son's fish
(who had been ill when we left but we tried heroic fish measures to save it) had also passed on.

A sad day of life lessons for my 5 year old. I don't think I am up to the task either. I think, including the 3 HCMers of late, I am up to losing 5 people since the beginning of the year.

Oh Cyn, when it rains it pours. It is tough to explain to little ones about death, as we don't really understand the why either. Mom's jobs are the hardest in the world.

Dear Cyn. I'm so sorry this has been such a rough time for you. Please give your little guy a hug from me. Is he still into Pokemon? I can get my guys to send him another card or two as a cheer-up. My thoughts and prayers are with Heather and Isabel at this time too. May they be comforted knowing someone else has a chance to live because of Mark.

How horrible. This is such a tragedy. Through his generous spirit, however, he will give life to many others. This should truly bless his soul.
Last night I went to church, and the priest gave a sermon...."This isn't the end." That's all he said. Interesting.

We went to a memorial service for Mark today and I saw exactly where the accident happened. His organs went to help 5 people. I was told specifically that his heart went to someone.

God Bless Mark Musselman and organ donors everywhere. It sucks that someone has to endure great loss in order to provide hope to others.
