Meeting the EP for the first time on 5/3. See if we can get to the bottom of my VT and/or face the dreaded ICD conversation. Will be there all day as I am meeting a genetic counselor as well.

I just had an ICD implanted on April 25th. Not bad at all considering the risks of HCM. Take care.

We were just at U of M yesterday. Grant (zook 94) was there for his back but we also saw Dr. Day. She went with us to the lab we had blood drawn for genetic testing and she said it would be about 6 weeks until we find out anything. We have had 5 visits in the past 4 weeks down there, You are in good hands. The genetics gal is really nice also. Good luck and keep us posted.

Jo,

I had my ICD put in Oct 06. I did not want to get it, but it has been pacing me out of some episodes. I went into work everyday and people would ask me when I was having my procedure and I would tell them I decided I wasn't going to get it (today) check back with me tomorrow. It became quit the joke (humor is my way of dealing with things...most of the time) And now it has saved my life. Talk and learn about all that you can and take it one day at a time. There are a lot of people here to talk to and get information from.

Just got back it was a long day. The genetic counselors were really nice. Now we just need to confirm that another currently diagnosed family member & I have the same mutation. It's a pretty sure thing but before we start testing everyone just want to make sure.

The EP did recommend an ICD for me. My second holter had 3 more short runs of VT & they seem to be originating from the scarred area of my septum. I'm going to take some time to think about it, but he alleviated many of the concerns I had. I just need some time to let it sink in I think. Ultimately, it's my decision- I'm not at the high end of risk but I'm also not at the low end.

Thanks for the well wishes & concern,
Jo

Jo... I'm glad your long day is over, and you got some important information! It's rarely an easy thing to make decisions that impact us for a long time, but I know you will make the right choice for you.

Thanks for the update... keep us posted! Blessings, love and light.... Mary
