It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is here already! This year I will again let you all know how thankful I am to have you all be a part of the HCMA! It is together we learn, grow and live with HCM.
I do have a special thought I would like to share with you all this Thanksgiving - one of our member families is having a difficult time and I wanted to share it with you in part in hopes that you will all remember them this Thanksgiving and send your good wishes their way. This family lost a young mother several years ago suddenly to undiagnosed HCM, her son was later diagnosed with HCM and has an ICD and is doing fine. Yesterday I recieved a call that her sister, who is 32 weeks pregnant with twins is in A-fib for unknown reasons, it now appears that she too has HCM. She remains in the hospital and they are attempting to get her into sinus via medications. She is not feeling well and as you can imagine her family is very concerned for the babies and the mother. I am happy to say that the HCM community of physicians has responded and is assisting via the phone with the hospital but what we really need is for her to return to sinus and get those babies to 35 weeks. So here is what I am asking of each of you - if you are thankful for the HCMA, thankful to have found support, information and friends here then please take a moment to send good wishes to this very kind family.
When I get an update from the family I will post it.
I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with friends, family and good memories that will last a lifetime! Happy Thanksgiving and happy shopping!
