I would love to have "fundraiser" in my community. Raising money is indeed the ending goal but mostly for awareness and education. I have done a little research, requested and received some information from various organizations (child cardiomyopathy) yet sadly I am still lost! Most have large scale fundraisers and honestly.. I do not have time to organize such a thing!
Any ideas or resources for "someone just wanting to give back a little"...will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alicia

Hi, Alicia:
I have no experience to offer in organizing a fundraiser, but I will mention one that has been quite successful for our school.
This is our second year using a shopping card program to generate funds for our school. What I like the best about this program is that we can raise money for the school without spending a dime more than we spend for our weekly living expenses. Last year we raised about $7,000 with only about 20-25 families participating.
We are able to order and pick up the cards at the school, as well as purchase from a 'float' that is kept on hand, but it is also possible to order the cards online and have them delivered directly to your home (small fee for home delivery).
Here is a link to the site - sorry, but it's Canadian, although I am sure that there is an American equivalent.
Hope this helps.

I don’t know if this is financially feasible, but if the office would print up some brochures explaining HCM, its symptoms and tests to identify it, plus a reference to our website, and finally a tear-out membership application and separate request for donations, we could all then drop a batch off at our cardiologist’s and PCP's offices. (Many have racks where these various brochures are located.)
For those who want to participate by dropping off the brochures, it would raise awareness, supply information, find new members and also raise some funds.
What do you think Lisa? Do you think it would do some good?
Burt
