Hi all,
My 8 year old has an appointment in Minneapolis on 11/28/06 at 10:00. I really don't know what to expect. Can someone enlighten us with some details. We are seeing a pediatric cardiologist and then off to a conf. with Dr. Maron. Has anyone else had their children seen in MN?

Thank you for your help in this matter.

I haven't been to that facility, but you are going to see one of the best doctors in the world for HCM. I'm sure someone will answer you soon regarding their personal experience, but I just want to wish you luck.

I live in Minneapolis and my 16yr old son is being followed by the Childrens Heart Clinic which is right next to the Minneapolis Heart Institute where Dr. Marron is. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I'll try and answer.

Hi, Just curious, How did your appointment in Minneapolis go? Were you able to get all your questions answered? Did you happen to see one of the Doc's at Childrens Heart Clinic? My son had been followed by Dr Burton, but now is in transition to an adult cardiologist/EP doc.

Well our trip was complicated. We saw Dr. Maron and he said Patrick's case was "profound". It is uncommon for an eight year old to have such a large septum. He wanted to see us back in February and then we would discuss surgery.

We went back on 2/1/07 and he said that we could wait until summer for surgery. I have created a blog for my family to read. If you would like to read what Dr. Maron said my husband tried to reiterate. Check it out at www.pray4patrick.blogspot.com

Shirley, I agree with you that Dr. Maron is a very patient man. I am just absolutely stumped by this disease. Last summer my 8 year old was playing baseball, approved by his cardiologist. And August 28 he suffers from a cardiac arrest in gym class. Since August he has been shocked at least 15 times. Dr. Maron said his heart was agitated. I understood that statement. I think I would be agitated too. Our cardiologist put Patrick on a treadmill and he went into defib. during the test and got shocked three times.

Dr. Maron was very patient with us and out questions. I appreciate all he has devoted to this disease and to his patients. He was very kind.

I wish you well and God bless you,
Christie

I'm sorry you're having to travel this road. I hope the next few months pass uneventfully until his next evaluation.
