Well last weekend during my sisters birthday party, my grandmother told my sister and I that our Papaw wasn't feeling good, and they went to the doctor and he has a blockage around his heart. He had something done Friday, but I for get what it's called, anyways they done all they could to help him and try to unblock his heart. But My Papaw said half of his heart is blocked and there is nothing they can do, because the vaines or something has grown around his heart and it can't be helped. So I don't know what's going to happen now. I don't want him to die, but with half of his heart blocked and nothing can be done, I think he might....

Kayla, I'm sorry to hear about your Papaw. I will be praying for him. I hope as you talk with your family, you will learn more about what is happening with him and that they will have a treatment plan that works well for him. Even if it's not a cure, remember, the necessary adjustments can make all the difference and allow him to continue living a wonderful life with his family and friends. Many times, not understanding is much worse than the original problem.

Please let us know how things are going - Best wishes - Linda

Hi Kayla,
My grandkids are two years older then you, so I can relate easily to your Papaw (If I’m not already older then he is.) About a month ago I had my fifth coronary angioplasty and stenting, being the third stent in that artery. I have also had both renal and both iliac arteries angioplastied and stented. The procedure works well and opens up the arteries to supply plenty of blood to the heart.

My forty two year old son last January had a quadruple bypass, and he is doing quite well also, so you can see why I question your statement that nothing can be done. One way or the other I would think it can be fixed. I know as you age the arteries supplying your heart expand and intertwine with the areas of the heart they supply blood to. This is why people in their thirties and forties die at a higher rate from a heart attack then do older folks. In any case, rather then worrying to no avail, why not find out what is really going on. I’m sure your Papaw will appreciate your concern and tell you the whole story.
Burt
