I tried to copy and paste this whole article and it gave me a forbidden code.
I am going to paraphrase a very important message for the transplant program nationally.
It is a critical time in the legislative process for federal funding of transplant programs. You should contact your congressionla rep today to encourage funding for Organ Donation and Recovery Act.
The U>S. House of Rep and the U.S. Senate have bot passed preliminary versions of legislation to fund federal health care programs. This legislation is known as the Laabor-Health & Human Services Appropriations Act, provides dollars for all federal health care programs. For the first time a Senate Commitee has passed a preliminary proposal which includes funds for the Organ Donation and Recovery Improvement Act.
UNFORTUNATELY, the House's version of the same legislation contains no dollars for the program.
So, HCMer's who are willing I would ask you to contact your Senate and Congressional representatives and let them know how thousand of people could benefit from this act. For information on how to contact your Members of Congress go to http://www.house.gov/writerrep/
Here are some points to express to them.
Please appropriate $2 million for the Organ Donation and Recovery Improvement Act in the Labor HHS and Education Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2007.
The Senate Committee-passed legislation contained $2million for the critical program but the House version did not. Please support the Senate funding level. This bill while a small portion of what is needed would provide thousand of people with critical and life-saving access to transplants.
The funding would support critical transplant programs including financial support for living donors, therby decreasing the number of people in need of deceased donor organs.
Currently there are more than 92,000 Americans waiting for a life saving organ transplant.
More than 6,000 candidates awaiting organ transplantation have died this year alone. The waiting list has become the waiting to die list.
I implore you to support the funding of this law so that people like me can continue to benefit.
Thanks everyone for considering doing this.
