View Full Version : Norpace side effects?
Hi all,
Did anyone notice the following as a side effect of Norpace: tingling, 'over sensitivity' or painfull touching, in my case of my hands. Not ongoing, but occasionally on handling or touching. Not sure the Norpace is to blame here, could be something else (like RSI).

I was on Norpace for ten years and did not have that kind of reaction. I did develop tendonitis in both wrists (rsi) from typing incorrectly all day, every day for a few months, and was in excruciating pain. now i use the kinesis pro advantage keyboard (officeorganix.com) and a wacom graphire 3 pen tablet instead of a mouse (wacom.com or any compusa, etc) and it has made a gigantic difference. the keyboard is expensive and funny looking but it really, really works. all other "ergonomic" keyboards tilt up, which if you look at the ergonomic recommendations is the _exact_ opposite of how it should be. the pro advantage is the only really ergonomic keyboard i know of.
be sure to talk to your doctor about your symptoms.

Hi Ad,
How have you been? I have on occasion noticed painful tingling which may be from the Norpace. It is usually transient, and I don't really pay much attention to it. I am now on 600 mg. of Norpace CR. The other side effects (dry mouth, urinary hesitancy, constipation, and occasional blurred vision) are much more noticeable.
By the way, Ad, I am sorry to have to tell you that I have now officially failed Norpace therapy, having experienced a continuing gradient, provocable up to 65 - 80 mm/HG, with SAM and severe MR, so I am now in the queue to have a myectomy.....I am planning for later in the summer.
I hope it is continuing to work for you. Are you still on the same dose?

this set off a light bulb for me....for the last 6 months (approx. when i started norpace) when i wake up in the morning my hands are so numb that it takes a minute or two after waking for the feelings to return. this is not in my whole hand, just my pinky, ring finger and middle finger on both hands...for some reason my thumbs and pointers are not affected..don't know if it's the norpace but like i said...i'm wondering now.....p
Well,
Cynthia, that must be disappointing for you. Sorry to read you're in line for more drastic treatment. I have a fair guess however that your symptoms may be worse then mine, so you're probably well treated with MY. Keep us updated how it goes.
My wife remarked that Norpace could induce muscle fatigue (I have). Also - concurrent with your findings packy - if I grip the steering wheel to long to tight, tingling comes or I may have a half dead hand. Never had that before. Come to think of it, Norpace messes with the nerve messaging system, so...

With my latest Norpace increase I have also experienced much more muscle fatigue. I notice that my legs seem very tired without expending much effort, like just walking down the hall at work, my legs are feeling like I have run a marathon.
What expertise does your wife have with this drug (i.e. knowing side effects, etc.?)
