hi all!

i am just a new member and have just discovered the "HANG OUT" area for younger people. its great to know that i have people on this site that are around my own age that may understand more about what i am going through.

Would love to hear from so of you that are around my age (20 - and anyone else!)

Please send me your stories.

I am sure you will hear from someone shortly. While I am no longer in the age range for the hang out - I was 12 when diagnosed and 22 at the time of my first pacemaker - a old lady at 27 with my first ICD ;-)

Life with HCM can be good - in fact life can be better then good with HCM. Take care of yourself and please know we are here if you need anything.

I am your age I just turned 20 less then a week ago. I was 6 months old when I was diginosed. I found life to be hard and some people treated me differant because they don't know what is going on in side me. For me life is easier with good friends who are willing to help when I need it and understand that I can't always do what they do. If you ever want to talk I will listen and try to help if I can. I have talked to my doctors and done many of projects for school about have HCM or just HCM. I got lots of good grades on those projects because I got so in detail and I could accully use examples the teachers and some of my classmates would enjoy the presentation and understand me a little better.

Contact me if you ever want to or need to Talk I will be happy to listen to your problems and try to help or tell you about someone who can help.

hope to hear from you soon.

Hey! I'm 6 years younger than you, but whatever. I like talking to people older then I am. I was diagnosed when I was a baby, and a doctor told my mom I was going to die. I had surgery the summer after forth grade, and it went well. This summer is going to be 4 years after my surgery. I was also checked to see if I needed a pace maker, which I didn't need (WOO!)

Welcome to the forums! :)
