Hi everyone,
For those of you who have had transplants thought maybe you guys could help on this one. I posted a while ago that my last biopsy my body was rejecting the heart. I received the iv doses of solumedrol don't know if I spelled that right. My dad also a transplant recipient told me that it will take them 2 more biopsies to find out if I'm still in rejection. Does anyone understand why? I apologize I am just really frustrated. I go back next Thursday for my biopsy, clinic and another echo to make sure I have no blood clots since I had the rare occurence of one. I know things will get better I keep fighting. The last 3 days I started walking and have felt good when I do that. But I've also had some occurences of chest pain too and I don't know why that's occuring. I just keep telling myself to stay strong. I guess I just need some moral support. Thanks for everything everyone. Blessings always.

Kimberly, I cannot answer your question(s), but I can hear your fears and anxieties in your post. May God bless you with peace during this period of unknown and may you receive answers and good news very soon. I do hope you are not in rejection and am glad you have been able to do some walking which helps your spirit and gives you a feeling of accomplishment.
God's blessings,
Laura

Kimberly, I can give you my rejection experience. I was a 3 A and had the 3 days of massive solumedrol. I had a biopsy 5 days after completing my solumedrol therapy and was a 0. As far as chest pain remember we have no nerves that will give us heart pain so most likely you are having chest wall pain. I have a biopsy on the 14th. We sure like being 0"s. Hope this helps.

Kimberly,
Hang in there I was in rejection Feb 3rd, only 2 days after I came home. It was high dose meds and I pulled out and yes I too started walking again and it felt great. My legs were so swollen and tight, (my sign of rejection) major weight gain. It was like magic ..suddenly I started to pull off the fluid and I've been off and moving ever since. It was a good 5 days before it really kicked in. It was enough to put us all on edge in this house and I felt like I was holding my breath. I know your fear to work so hard and come so far and now this!! Just keep your chin up, weather the storm, and always look forward ..never back. Aimee (transplant this past Thankgiving 2005)

Kimberly,
I wish I had some input on the medical aspect but I do not. I can tell you that of all those I know with transplant some have had periods of rejection that have turned around with medical management.
Hang in there!! We are all pulling for you and wishing you lots of "0's" in your future!!
Best wishes and BIG HUGS!

Dear Kim
Sometimes people get rejections because their immune is so strong it just wants the foreign object out. It takes some time to find the right med doses for some people, just stay strong and be patient.

Hi Kimberley
I wish I could give you some input to your rejection, but I am still waiting for a heart.
I know it is difficult to hear (I've been there), but be patient and strong. Believe that God will see you through this difficult time.
Please let us know the results of your next test. I hope it will be a BIG FAT 0.
God Bless

BX time and results. I was in on the 14th for my recent set of Bx, labs etc. ...results are in and I scored a 0 . Big time NO rejection. I am so excited and now we are weening off the meds. My blood sugars are in line with the reduction in the prednisone... I hope to get rid of the insulin. My diabetis is steroid induced. Kim you just hang in there ... the results will come. My first set of Bx after my rejection was a 2a and now a 0... but I did hit 3a/b. It's over and behind us and as I say always forward never look back. ALWAYS and ONLY FORWARD. Rejection always looms for us but the first one is hopefully the scarriest. Not that I want any more.. Blessings I will be looking for your post and results...Chin up ...Aimee

Hi everyone,
Well the good news is no rejection. The bad news is a little inflamation though I don't fully understand what that means. They did tell me to stop taking the valcyte, nystatin and bactrim so I'm psyched about that. My prednisone went down from 15 to 12 mg. They said my magnesium is low even though I've been taking it 2 times a day so now I'm increased to 3 times a day. Also they are concerned about my blood sugar. They said it is in the 60s to 80. So they are saying it is too low. I am on metformin from my gyn for my polycystic ovarian syndrome. So have to discuss issues with them. But I am happy no rejection this time. Hallejuhah.
Well here's some great news. My aunt is at the Brigham right now having her heart transplant. She's 67 and been waiting a long time. Please pray for her. My mom and dad went to the hospital and I am at home babysitting our cute dogs. Thank you everyone.

Great news Kimberly. They say it takes a year for all the labs to straigthen out and that is pretty much how it was with me. Be patient they will figure it all out.

Kimberly,
Great to hear that things are going reasonably well. I will pray that your aunt's transplant goes very very well.
