I swear about 15-20 min. after I take my dose of cardizem, I start feeling skipped beats...I know I am on it because it relaxes your heart. I'm on tikosyn (an anti-arrythimic) also. I take the tikosyn at 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. I take the cardizem at 11:00 a.m. every day. I never feel the skipped beats until after I take the cardizem. :x

As you well know, we all react differently to the drugs we are prescribed. What works for one, may not for another. As I had been given Sotalol early on after my myectomy, with no difficulty, it was tried again. My liver enzymes rose and it was discontinued. Cardizem CD was then tried. Unfortunately, I still had breakthroughs of afib while on it. We then tried the Sotalol again, with no enzyme abnormality. The afib breakthroughs continued; and I sought alternative treatment through the radio-frequency ablations.

Talk with your doctor to see if a change in med or dosage will be of benefit to you.

You were reading my mind!..........based on some research today, I have found that many anti-arrythmics have a tendency to cause Pro-arrythmias. I have been on Amiodarone since November (also taking Atenolol)... Been having irregular beats on a fairly regular basis the last 2 weeks......the Amio controls the rate..........no rapidly conducting Afib....

Seems like we have the devil's bargain........to control the Afib... take the AR drugs.........than deal with more arrythmias.....

Have you had any problems with water retention with the AR? That has been a problem for me the last 2-3 weeks. Up 2-3 lbs. for a day or 2 and than loose the weight over the next 3-4 days.
