Becca, I started taking beta blockers when I was about your age and it did make my heart quiet down and not race as much. I'm glad you have a great mom (and dad) who want to take such good care of you.

I've been on a beta-blocker since I was 13. I'm now about to turn 37 (sshhh, don't tell!!) I'm in atrial fibrillation and even with the afib (which makes your heart beat really really fast), my rate is well controled.

Your mom knows of what she speaks, but it is always good to get a second (or third!) opinion.
