Great News!!!

We got the call at 1:45 this afternoon, and as I'm writing this Beverly is in surgery having her heart transplanted. The doctors were all amazed at what a good match it is. I'll post an update when she's out of surgery and in the ICU - hopefully in the next 8 hours or so.

Thanks so much for all the prayers!

Steve

Hi Steve

That's WONDERFUL!

I know she has been waiting a long time. Finally after a short amount of time she will know what its like to live with a "normal heart".

You, Beverly and family will be in my prayers.

Please keep us posted.

Take care

Steve, I know you are pretty busy with Beverly right now, but if you have any news about her sister in Virginia, we would also like news of her. Beverly shared the problems she was having and many of us have been praying and thinking about your whole family.

Hi again - I just called the hospital to try to track down Steve - I got to the nurses station. She said - "Beverly just got into her room and Steve commented I have never seen her so pink" The nurse said Steve had just left the floor for a moment so i did not get to talk with him yet. The good news here is the surgery is done and she is resting with her new heart as I type.

I just want to take a moment and thank the donor family - who ever they are - and let them know that although they have lost a loved one their heart found an amazing home and will continue to live and love. I have been on that side of the donor situation and I want this family to know that through their pain they made the most amazing and loving choice and we all thank them for this wonderful gift.

I will update when I know more.

Thanks Lisa for the update. I have been checking all morning to see more info on Beverly.

I too will pray for the family of the doner that they know that their loved one has given a gift of life and comfort to carry them through their loss.

And to the donor...thank you so much for being a part of Beverly's new life. May you rest knowing that you have given so much to a very nice person at her time of need.

God bless

Steve,

Wonderful news, indeed! We were all praying with Beverly that she would receive her new heart soon. In that, our prayers have been answered. But, we will keep praying that her recovery goes smoothly; and, that, she will begin to enjoy life with renewed strength. Many blessings are yet to be shared.

Tell her we are all thinking and praising with her on the successful surgery. Prayers are also said for the donor and their family, for their "gift of life."

Blessings,

Midge Rollins

Great news for Beverly and for Steve! We are all honored to witness this miracle of science and compassion. Thank you to the donor family and to all the care givers that have been with Beverly the whole way through this next journey. Now onto the next chapter of a different life and experience without HCM.

My prayers are with you, Beverly, as you heal from this traumatic surgery and you continue your life. It has been a pleasure to experience the excitement of your new heart through Steve. I can hardly wait to hear your side of the story! Be well!

Blessings to all,
Sharon

One more thing I forgot to mention, Beverlys sister Debbie is still in the hospital in VA. She is not doing well EF is way low and systems continue to fail - she was denied a transplant due to other medical poblems. At least when she leaves this earth she will know her sister got the heart she needed. Please continue to pray for Debbie that she may find peace.

Thanks everyone for being the most amazing people I have had the honor of knowing - you all continue to dazzle me with your love and kindness.

love ya's!

Hi folks,

Ten hours after she got out of surgery she was breathing on her own and her blood gasses were stable so the docs made the call to remove the vent. She sat up and started talking to us right away. Less than a half hour later she stood up (with the help of one of the nurses) and sat in a chair for a few minutes. Spectacular is the word the docs are using to describe how well she's doing.

Sorry for not sending more updates, but I promise to log in as often as I can to let folks know what's going on. Thanks again for all your prayers.

Hi everyone,

I am so exited to be transplanted and recovering that I can't express the joy I feel. Life is different already and I have never ever felt this good in my life. This whole experience has been easier than I ever thought it could be. God has been so good to us and this is a testimony to his ability to line the streets with gold and take charge of a situation. Praise God!!!!! I came home 7 days post surgery and have been doing beautifully. My first biopsy was no rejection. I have had a few med adjustments and thats really it. Thank you all so much for your support and for loving us thru this. We'll keep you updated as the weeks go on. Keep praying, take care and God bless!!!

Love,
Beverly

Hi Beverly

What GREAT news! We all have been waiting for an update from you or you husband. What took you so long????? lol

I am so happy that everything is going smooth for you.

Did you say you are "home"? I thought when someone has a heart transplant they must stay close by where the procedure took place for a few months????

I have soooooooo many questions and picture the procedure to be horrible.

Please take care and may God bless you and your family and your heart doner.

Beverly, it is truly a miracle isn't it? I know you will continue to feel this way everyday you wake up. I am so happy for you. This morning as I exercised for 40' I thought of you and wanted to tell you that you will be also able to do this. Please IM me for any questions or when the meds drive you nuts. I am so grateful for your transplant and continued recovery.
