Birthcontrol

Hi,

I know this girl that has HCM and she doesn't know if she can take birthcontrol or not. She's 21 and takes atenolol daily. I know that birthcontrol pills can not be taken if you have a blood clot problem but I don't know if HCM would be effected by it or not. Thanks for your time.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this one. Her doctor would probably be best to ask but I'm sure someone will post here soon too.

Her doctor needs to take a look at her family history and her situation.

I did take bc for five years in college but later I had a little stroke and they are out of the question.

The broad answer is that they are probably not a good idea, but only her doctor can say for sure.
