I sometimes use Benedril. It is well tolerated by HCMers and works like a charm for me most of the time.

I have this problem from time to time and have not found a good solution. Sometimes my heart just likes to do the "happy dance" while the rest of my body would like to get some sleep. I know it is not A-Fib or anything like that because my ICD has never recorded an event. I have tried Tylenol PM...which does help me fall asleep but have found that I sometimes feel "groogy" the next day. A few things that are helpful to me, yet they don't always work are: 1. No caffeine (good for HCM in general) 2. Don't eat anything before you sleep. 3. Cut out spicy foods, especially at dinner time. 4. A glass of milk before I go to bed.

I was told by my doctor to take tylenol pm but only one to help me get to sleep, I was worried at first but it seems to be doing the trick for me

Tylenol PM is just Tylenol and Benadryl in one pill. If you aren't achy try just the Benadryl and not the combined pill. If that doesn't work you can ask your doctor what he/she suggests.

Baer.
I have had troubles sleeping for a long time. I have been on beta blockers for a long time too.
This morning I woke up at 4:30. That is not unusual. At time I get to sleep and wake up again at 1:30. Sometimes I can get back to sleep and other times not. I dream like crazy too. I have awakened in the morning after some crazy dream and felt like I put in a full days work.
I have concluded it is the beta blockers. My PCP gave me a prescription (very reluctantly) for a sleep aid, but he does not want me taking it every day. I get about 1-2 decent nights sleep a week.
On a bright note my heart has stayed in rhythm for 17 months.
Hope things adjust well for you.
Peace,
Leon

You know I have totally freaked out over some of my dreams, like I quit smoking a year and a half ago and i would would dream i got up went out on my front porch and had a cigarette it was so real i had to get up and check and i also would ask my husband and he said he didn't smell anything so it must have been a dream, And the reason the doc has me on tylenol pm is because i have a very bad back with having Osteoporosis so that is probably the reason he didn't say just benedryl

Like Leon and Shirley said I have been having CRAZY and vivid dreams ever since I have been on Beta Blockers. They haven't really disrupted my sleep, but I do feel like I have been very busy all night when I wake up in the morning.
Shirley - I have that weird cigarette dream too. I haven't smoked for a while but I will dream that I am smoking a cigarette. I guess that's the most healthy way to do it though

Aaaackk! The cigarette dream! It's been a few years since I've had that dream--sure hope it doesn't come back now that I've been reading this message thread! (Gee, thanks for bringing that up folks! LoL)
