anti arrythimic of choice

What differentiates anti arrythimics? For example, why would your doctor try Tikosyn rather than Norpace? Do they all basically perform the same way...maybe one has more side effects? :?

Personally, I have taken one from every class and sometimes several. Doctors have pretty much thrown at me whatever they thought might help. They really don't know which will, so you start at the bottom and work your way through.
