Jeremy J. Acosta had just turned 15 years of age on July 28, 2007. On August 3, 2007, Jeremy was taken to eternal life and we miss him immensely. Jeremy was diagnosed at the age of 8 with Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome and what we thought to be HCM. After working with Dr. Barry Maron and obtaining genetic testing, HCM was ruled out and we were given a new diagnosis of Danon’s disease, a glycogen storage disorder for which there was no cure. This disease is very rare and we were working proactively to get Jeremy a heart transplant. Up until the last day of his life, Jeremy led a very complete and joyful life. He had a big heart in so many ways. His physically enlarged heart was donated to research to hopefully give medicine a chance to study a heart like Jeremy’s. His loving heart touched everyone he met in his own very special way. His spiritual heart gave us a lasting message of love and hope. On the last day of his life, Jeremy had a great day and was full of energy. Jeremy never complained and never really suffered. He displayed such strength and courage every day of his life, even on the worst days. We thank God for His mercifulness on our son and we hope to be re-united with him one day. We feel honored to have known and loved such a kind, compassionate and unselfish young man. We will forever feel proud to be called Jeremy’s parents. Jeremy will live forever in our hearts. We love you Mom, Dad, Brian and Ariana!
